The Sacrament of Salvation
Baptism is the sacrament of salvation: an encounter with God that cleanses us from sin and makes us true children of God, sharing in His very own Divine Life and becoming members of His Church.
Baptism is the first of the three Sacraments of Initiation — the other two are Confirmation and Holy Communion (Eucharist). In this diocese, children typically receive the other Sacraments of Initiation after reaching age 7 (the age of reason) and before age 16.
Baptism of Infants & Children (Under 7)
At Holy Trinity Parish, Baptisms are usually celebrated on the fourth Sunday of the month, six times a year. Pre-baptismal formation classes are offered for parents and godparents.
It is an ancient custom and also a requirement of Church law that each new Christian have at least one sponsor, traditionally called a Godparent, who “together with the parents presents an infant for baptism. A sponsor also helps the baptized person to lead a Christian life in keeping with baptism and to fulfill faithfully the obligations” of this new life (Code of Canon Law, 872).
Church law and our diocese provide guidelines for the qualifications to serve as a Godparent. These requirements ensure that the new Christian will have the support they need from their sponsor, who will promise to pray for them and help them as they prepare for other sacraments and seek to live out their baptism throughout their lifetime.
Please call the Parish Office at (530) 677-3234 to speak with our Sacrament Specialists and begin the process toward infant and child Baptism.
Baptism of Children Aged 7 Through High School
Our Partners-in-Faith Faith Formation program is designed to form the whole family. Classes are for children from Transitional Kindergarten through their celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation — and while youth are in their classes, parents participate in adult formation and fellowship led by our Director of Faith Formation, Cynthia Mulcaire.

Baptism of Adults
The Order of Christian Initiation (OCIA) is a unique process for adults, youth, and children who desire to grow in their relationship with God through the Catholic faith. This ministry is primarily for those who are unbaptized, and for baptized Christians interested in exploring Catholicism.
Holy Trinity Catholic School
Our parish also offers an exceptional Catholic school, committed to helping children in TK through 8th grade grow in Christ through hospitality, prayer, formation, and service. Visit Holy Trinity Catholic School for more information.
